Why are rosters not done before practices start?
For the first couple of weeks of training, coaches work on adjusting preliminary rosters while they train the kids in a pool system (age specific) when applicable. Also coaches have to complete 3 requirements (Background check, Concussion Training and SafeSport course) before having access to the rosters. This may delay communications with teams.
The first day of practice for all programs, just before practice starts, we will have a short meeting with all parents at the fields and we will direct all players to their coaches and exact field within our park or school!
We take a lot of pride in trying to make rosters that consider different factors: keeping together players who have played in the same team before and adding new players in a way that ensure teams are leveled. Also we look at special requests from parents so friends can play with friends.
