Game Day Prep – Mini Monarchs (U3-U8) & Rec Royals (U9-U15)

1. GLORIFIED SCRIMMAGE – Game day is like your scrimmage at the end of practice.

  • Keep your games on time.  Please start games on time even if your whole team is not there (and borrow players from the other team if needed) and adhere to the duration of the quarters or halves.
  • Goal keepers (U10, U12 & U15 groups) must wear a different color jersey than the rest of the players (use pinnies please).
  • As during practices, do not allow unauthorized, uncertified adults to coach your game. Contact the club in adavnce, if you have to miss a game.

2. CANCELLATIONS – Only cancel a game on the spot. Do not cancel before a game just by messaging other coaches or families (study well the Weather guidelines) (exceptions listed in the weather guidelines)

3. SET UP – Home team (listed first on a given scheduled game) sets the goals and corner flags (corner flags only at U8, U10, U12 & U15).

4. WARM-UP – This is super important!! You need your players to show up between 15 minutes and 25 minutes before the game depending on their age bracket.

MINI-MONARCHS (Academy)
U3-U4 – Meet for a 10 minutes warm-up before the game.
U5-U6 – Meet for a 15 minutes warm-up before the game.
U7-U8 – Meet for a 20 minutes warm-up before the game.
REC ROYALS
U9-U10, U11-U12 & U13-U15: Meet for a 25 minutes warm-up before the game.

During warmup, please run any of the activities you thought went great during practice the week of the game. This allows is to re-emphasize topics.

5. REFEREEING – Referee the game as you do on your scrimmages in practice. Why don’t we use official referees? Also, see more in the Game Day Guidelines document.

6. COACHING – Do not coach excessively. Instead, assess your players and team and help them with the understanding of Law 12 (Fouls) by calling them. Do not worry about improper technique performing throw-ins. It is more important to execute restarts (throwins, corners, goal kicks, kick offs etc) fast rather than perfectly.

7. SHARE PLAYERS – Share or borrow players from your opponent (we are the same club!) to make things more leveled, specially making sure both sides have similar number of subs. When traveling, a team may show up with less players for example.

8. UNIFORMS – Home team (listed first) wears the YELLOW JERSEY. Visitor team (listed second) wears STRIPES JERSEY. Black/Red Shorts and red/black socks are used for either uniform.

9. MEDICAL RELEASES – Carry or know how to access your teams’ medical release form: see instructions at the bottom of the orientation page: https://realsoccerclub.org/orientation/ or directly go here.
