Speed of play

These videos are form the SoccerEyeQ videos from Neil Rogers. The idea is to train your players to see more and think faster. This results in a player that plays much better.

INTRO NOTE

Many years ago, I started experimenting with the idea of helping players to quickly process solutions needed for example to get out of pressure. I started incorporating some color elements in some basic activities and asked players to let me know what they were seeing before they received the ball. I also thought that telling players to look over their shoulders with no way for me to test/know if the player was really seeing things and processing the information correctly was a waste of time in most cases.

I knew there had to be some more materials, and more advanced than what I was doing. I asked our speed and agility director back then, Tom Glick, to look into it and he discovered the SoccerEyeQ DVDs and it was an amazing leap at least for me as a coach. I hope you embrace this training as I did back then.

– SPEED OF PLAY DEVELOPMENT

(1) SoccerEyeQ Intro – Making decisions based on the information behind a player (Variation 1)

(2) SoccerEyeQ Intro – Making decisions based on the information behind a player (Variation 2)

This is a variation with respect the previous one.

Here, there is only ball (not two) and the first touch is side ways, not in front (center player receives leveled with the center cones, not behind the cones).

A side touch is very difficult to defend if getting away from pressure.

Kids can practice receiving with the outside and inside and getting away from pressure with a side touch.

(3) SoccerEyeQ Intro – A ball carrier (first attacker) making decisions when passing to a near supporting player (2nd attacker).
