12 Real teams, ages 4 through 9, participated in the first ever Open Youth League season, organized by the Idaho Football Federation. 12 teams was an all time high record for Real Soccer!
There were 8 Real Middleton teams and 4 Real Boise teams. Team played a double round robin that ended up in a Jamboree (Saturday Oct 24th saw the jamboree played in Boise and and Oct 31st in Middleton). There were three age groups: 2010-2011 players, 2008-2009 players and 2006-2007 players.
During the 13 weeks of practices, one of the two weekly practices was run by Youth Academy Director of coaching, Juanjo Carmona. He worked with all the players in the different age pools, assisted by all the team academy coaches.
Emphasis was on several technical skills (dribbling, 1v1 moves, passing/receiving) as well as restarts, in essence, development of the individual player.
The season was historical too because Real Soccer Club was the first club that joined the new OYL league. Valley United Soccer club participated in the final Jamboree, as well.
